Take It To The Streets: New Age Of Marketing

Look closely at the stairs. It’s marketing. As citizens of the 21st century, we are exposed to enough marketing tactics to understand where we can expect it: billboards, televisions, print magazines, posters, radio and a never ending list of more.

For companies with billions to spend, it’s pocket change to get their name out everywhere at the same time. It becomes difficult for smaller companies and brands to put themselves out there. Of course, there’s social media to depend on, but if everyone’s doing it, it becomes difficult to stand out. That’s where the streets come in.

We often hear this phrase thrown around in common conversation: “Take it to the streets” And honestly, if you don’t have that big budget, that’s the next best thing. The streets don’t only act as a great marketing platform, but also for quality control, so to speak. The streets filter out those who don’t seem to be capturing the right attention or are dishonest in their work ethic, either ripping someone else off or disrespecting another legend.

If your rapping skills suck, the streets aren’t going to buy your music. If you tag and wheatpaste, but you aren’t respected, they will tear down your posters and cross your name out. Not only do you get attention on the streets, you get the respect and honest feedback. And if you’re rejected, come back harder. Do it until the streets listen.
