Ty Dolla $ign: The New T-Pain?

If the name Ty Dolla $ign doesn't ring a bell for you, think about the song Paranoid that you always hear on the radio, "I seen two of my b*tches in the clubbbb and I know they know about each other..." Paranoid isn't Ty Dolla $ign's only hit however, he has been buzzing on the west coast for a long time now.  His early music career began with YG; he wrote and produced YG's hit single Toot it and Boot it.  In 2012, he got signed to Atlantic and shortly after released the mixtapes Beach House and Beach House 2 (which are both great listens).

His momentum is picking up fast as he has landed verses and hooks on some of the hottest songs across the nation.  He most recently appeared on the XXL Freshman Cover and also Lupe's new single.

With his rising fame, you can't help but compare him to the legend that is T-Pain.  Ty$ uses pitch-correction as well as harmonizing on his songs and at times his voice similarity to T-Pain is uncanny.  Pair that with his great songwriting ability and voilà the new T-Pain has been born; except this dread-head is light-skinned.  Now, I'm not trying to intentionally start any beef but it definitely seems that Ty$ is on the verge of stealing T-Pain's lane.

Time will tell if Ty Dolla $ign will be a lasting artist but one thing is for sure, with his hit-making potential and with DJ Mustard backing him, he is definitely going to give a lot of artists a run for their money.  In the meantime, you can probably turn to any Hip-Hop or R&B station and hear the light-skinned T-Pain crooning over a hot beat.
