Tech Tuesday: Google's Modular Smartphone

At a developer's conference this month, Google announced that they would begin product pilot testing for their modular smartphone later this year in Puerto Rico, introducing Project Ara (video below). This proposed mobile has interchangeable parts allowing for low-cost customization and repairing. The phone frame itself starts at an affordable $50. Designed exclusively for 6 billion people, Google's modular smartphone aims to satisfy the disparity between current fixed-cost, fixed-feature smartphone offerings and the needs and constraints of the world’s consumers.
