Earthships: Sustainable Homes Made of Garbage

"I'll use anything to make buildings, to show people they don't need infrastructure"

This radical creator, Michael Reynolds, believes in making homes completely out of used materials/garbage in order to take steps towards sustainable living.  The main building material for these Earthship homes are used car tires and bottles.  These Earthships take power from the sun, wind, and water in order to run; they are completely off-grid. Michael has not developed just one of these homes, but has built a whole community!  It's pretty amazing what he's doing, check out the full story below in the form of a well put together vimeo video (which is also a vimeo staff pick).
