No this is not a joke; despite the headline sounding like an April Fools prank, California has officially banned plastic bags. This proves again that California is one of the more progressive liberal states, seeing as CA citizens also approved recreational marijuana and the growth of industrial hemp. Prop 67, the Plastic Bag Veto Reforendum, was narrowly approved this election but approved nonetheless. This is a huge victory for the state as it will mean that around 25 million plastic bags will be removed from the state. Plastic bags are harmful to the environment and threaten wildlife in California, but this ban is a huge step in the right direction!
