It's official, we are living in the future. What does that really mean though? The future never comes because it is... well, in the future. The phrase more refers to what we imagined the future to look like when we were younger. 'Lumen' is a futuristic device that looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. From afar it looks like a regular flashlight, but it is far from that. It is a digital projector that can analyze components in the environment. From there it can then project information and unlock certain keys from the data it analyzes. The developers describe it as follows:
“Lumen is a Mixed Reality storytelling platform that lets people immerse in alternate realities in their natural space through machine learning and projection mapping technologies. It tries to explore the creation of a new kind of media that takes advantage of the physical world while overlaying a layer of digital fiction on top of it.”
