Superego Saturday: Can You Graph it? (Battle Rappers)

Battle rap is one of the oldest forms of lyrical expression in hip-hop, and if you haven't been living under a rock for the past few years you have noticed that it's gotten as big as ever.  The platform for battle rap has hit youtube like a tidal wave, and has even hit the tube (with pay-per-view battles).  What is even more intriguing about the battle rap scene is the diversity of rappers that take part in it; there are so many different styles, deliveries, and appearances.  This week for Can You Graph it? we try to decipher (no pun intended) the different type of battle rappers.

What points can be made from this graph?

1. It seems that the aggressive and loud type of battle rapper is the most popular.

2. Being calm and comedic may get you a job at MTV.

3. Balancing the line between aggressive and comedic takes a different type of lyrical beast (i.e. Chilla Jones, Charlie Clips, Loaded Lux)
