This week's Sustainable Sunday presents the only airplane of perpetual endurance, able to fly day and night on solar power, without a drop of fuel -- The Solar Impulse. Psychiatrist and Visionary -- Bertrand Piccard teamed up with Engineer and Entrepreneur -- André Borschberg to demonstrate how pioneering spirit, innovation and clean technologies can change the world.
Earlier this month, Solar Impulses's second long-range solar vehicle, known as the HB-SIB, launched off for the first Round-the-World Solar Flight! During what's set to be a 5-month journey, this next-generation, solar-powered aircraft will be fully connected with Inmarsat Swift Broadband-based satellite technology from SITA OnAir and related infrastructure from Swisscom, keeping pilots and ground crews in touch 24/7. Fans can view photos, see the plane’s specs, and track its progress via the Solar Impulse. Let's continue working towards keeping the air clean.
